LEGE ARTIS® TEAM

Irina Revo, B.Sc., M.D. (Russia). Our special programs are being developed by Irina V. Revo, a European Dermatologist. Moscow Medical University graduate (MD Russia, Diploma in General Medicine, 1990), postgraduate specialization in Dermatology (Dermatologist Diploma, 1992). Additional studies and certifications include laser treatments with LightSheer™ laser, Vbeam™ laser, BBL™, Omnilux™ Light Therapy, skin tag removal and aesthetics. Established Lege Artis® Toronto Laser and Skin Care Clinic in 1996.

During Irina’s practice as a Dermatologist in Russia - Irina routinely prescribed custom made formulas for her patients instead of readily made brand-name topical creams. Although medications and cosmetics have their differences, this knowledge and experience allowed Irina to become familiar with the formulating process and principles. Upon establishing of Lege Artis® as an aesthetic clinic in Toronto, Canada Irina has been building up on this solid foundation with a goal to develop a line of good-for-the-skin cosmetics, compatible with advanced laser procedures.

Ilia Belyi, B.Sc., M.D. (Russia). Ilia Belyi graduated from Moscow Medical University, Russia in 1992 (MD Russia, Diploma in General Medicine), postgraduate specialization in Neurology, (Neurologist Diploma,1995). Additional courses and certifications include laser treatments with LightSheer™ laser and Vbeam™ laser, BBL™, Omnilux™ Light Therapy. Since 2000 works at Lege Artis® Laser and Skin Care Clinic.

OUR MISSION

At Lege Artis we understood that treatment results can be greatly enhanced by using effective skin care. In our practice we used a number of skincare products by various manufacturers and noticed quite a few gaps which we decided to cover by developing our own products. We came to a conclusion that current logic of skin care formulation does not serve well to our clients, who have either sensitive and reactive skin or undergo laser treatments. We decided to apply our knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology and physiology to develop skincare and cosmetics which would be tailored for sensitive and reactive skin.

A STEP TOWARDS INTELLIGENT SKIN CARE

The easy way to formulate is just to add a few “actives” to an “inert base”, then add a few more for the “label appeal”. The more ingredients - the more chances of conflicts between them within the formula. That sometimes makes it necessary to add yet more ingredients which do not provide any benefit to the skin itself - just to mitigate those conflicts and keep the product structure stable.

Lege Artis way is to formulate without an “inert base” - so that every ingredient is important to achieve maximum benefits for the skin. We put in only what is absolutely necessary and in the right concentration. In other words, less ingredients mean: more concentration of actives, less unforeseen effects to the skin, more economical formulas allowing for the higher grade ingredients, and a smaller environmental footprint.

We eliminate fragrances as common skin and eye irritants, as well as silicones, parabens and plastic beads (known water pollutants). Our surfactants are ECOCERT certified and already pH balanced. It makes them gentle on the skin and does not require adding acids to make the pH skin-friendly.

To ensure the highest quality we personally manufacture our products fresh, handmade and in small batches.

DESIGNED FOR REAL PEOPLE

We start product design around skin problems presented by specific clients for whom no other products could deliver satisfactory and sustainable results in a gentle and non-irritating manner.

This approach led to development of such products as Serum CE and Baobab C10 - a rescue moisturizing duo for a client with a hopelessly dry skin. Aspen Bark Concentrate, Soja Hx and Beta Hx, B3B5 Mousses and Aspen B3B5 Body Wash were formulated for clients with very stubborn face and body acne, dehydrated, irritated and redness-prone skin.

Each product was developed from scratch which took a lot of research and thorough testing of raw ingredients and their combinations until the desired effects were achieved. Our clients met our dedication to products development with a great enthusiasm. They provided us with a unique perspective on what should be done. When a product was considered near ready we would give samples to prospective clients with a matching skin condition to confirm that it works well under stress - in the context of busy daily life. That sometimes took weeks of observation and fine-tuning.
